There is now a prominent hum that changes pitch with the speed of the vehicle and is loudest from 25-50mph, quickly fading away above 50mph. I have checked for play in the wheel bearings (no play), there's no major wiggle in the u-joints, and rotating the tires this morning did not change the sound.

About 6 hours later I'm still hearing a faint humming noise, the kind I usually notice when the car is being charged at home off the HPWC (the car is not charging during this time per schedule) and when the battery is being preconditioned. Oct 22, 2020 · If the noise is intermittent I recommend you remove everything in the vehicle that could make noise, I know it sounds like a huge task but it may be one of your personal items in the glove box, door pocket, sunglass holder, etc, making the noise and the mechanic does usually need to remove the glove box to remove the cabin air filter and that's why the noise may have changed. Sometimes if you dont have a good ground you can get 50/60Hz hum from the mic or other interferences. Ive got a 7mm drive in a 9.5mm HDD bay and it appears to be causing loud humming noises when the drive is in operation. As you can see in this pic, the drive, even when fully slotted in, is capable of "bending" a bit and i think that's what is causing the noise.

So its been a year since I swapped in a GT drivetrain into my car (4.6, T3650, 8.8, comp etc.). It was done professionally and the car has been sound from the get-go. The only complaint I have is a really loud humming noise that occasionally occurs upon starting the car as well as when I take my foot off the gas after cruising for 5+ minutes.
